Calvi
Seen from her 15th century Genoese citadel, Calvi looks like a precious stone set in a shimmering sea.
Lined by a shady pine forest, Calvi's beach, one of the island's longest, is a wonderful sight for sore eyes, with its limpid waters lapping the coastline. Calvi remains very much steeped in its traditions and, as you walk about, you'll find yourself 'intoxicated' by the fragrances of the surrounding maquis, or scrubland, and its typical produce. The marina, Calvi's hive of activity, particularly in the summer, is the setting for a multitude of restaurants and terraces tempting the taste buds of passers by.
